EDC is a global nonprofit organization that tackles some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and international development. For more than half a century, we have collaborated with public and private partners to design, deliver, and evaluate program innovations in the United States and around the world.

Using a powerful combination of research, strategy, and training, EDC advances formal and informal education, health promotion and care, workforce preparation, communication technology, and civic engagement.
We know that one size does not fit all. Working collaboratively with individuals, communities, and nations, we turn ideas into action, providing maximum impact and excellence-from small seed projects to large-scale national and international programs.
Our proven successes are fueled by the knowledge and experience of talented and dedicated staff, including teachers, health and social science professionals, mathematicians, professional development experts, scientists, researchers, and management and technology specialists.
What we believe:
Solutions begin with EDUCATION. EDC staff create and deliver innovative programs that improve teaching and learning for students of all ages. From in-depth research endeavors to district- and country-wide reform initiatives, we expand the boundaries of what is possible for all learners. In 30 countries and all 50 U.S. states-in schools, communities, and professional and non-classroom settings-we offer assistance, support, and resources. We develop curricula, train teachers and administrators, apply technologies, and conduct research on outcomes.
HEALTH paves the way for learning and success. Our work in physical and mental health spans promotion, prevention, early intervention, and care. With attention to underlying social and economic factors, we address such issues as violence and suicide prevention; alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use; HIV and AIDS; and environmental risks. We work in and across the sectors of education, health, and justice, creating programs for consumers, schools and universities, the juvenile justice system, workplaces, clinics, and community agencies.
ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY offers security and hope. More than 100 million children do not attend school, and many more young adults-as a result of disease, political instability, and war-are left ill-prepared to create a hopeful future. From small villages to large communities, EDC equips young people and adults, especially those from marginalized groups, with the tools to lead productive lives. Our curricula, programs, and professional development open doors to education and employment. We are a catalyst for workable and sustainable solutions in communities around the world.
