Reading is a gateway skill that allows doors to be opened around the world. Accessing opportunities becomes impossible when illiteracy is an obstacle.
Stepping up for Education
Over 13% of the world’s population is illiterate and over half of that number is women. Renewed efforts are therefore needed to reach the literacy target of the Sustainable Development Goals: “By 2030, ensure that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy.”
