Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial organization, which intervenes in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict, and disaster. Working alongside people with disabilities and those living in situations of extreme vulnerability, teams act to meet their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and their fundamental rights.

According to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, ratified by 164 countries worldwide, inclusive education is a human right and must be guaranteed for all children with disabilities. HI has been promoting education for children with disabilities since 1998. In 2023, HI had an impact on 287,795 direct beneficiaries, including children with disabilities, teachers and education professionals, families, and community members.
Inclusive education has been central to HI’s mission for over 20 years. Today, HI operates 50 projects and programmes across 26 countries in West, Central, North, and East Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America (Ecuador). Since 2015, Inclusive Education in Emergencies (IEiE) has emerged as a rapidly growing sub-sector, now encompassing 16 of these 50 projects.
HI tackles barriers to inclusive education at every stage:- Individual Level: Providing assistive devices, rehabilitation, and personalized educational support.
- School Level: Training teachers and education staff, adapting curricula, and upgrading school infrastructure for accessibility.
- Community Level: Shifting social norms to foster acceptance and support for children with disabilities.
- National Level: Advocating for policy changes and educational reforms to institutionalize inclusivity.
