Washington, DC - From June 18 to June 20, 2018, Global Campaign for Education-US Youth Leaders from around the United States traveled to Washington, DC to participate in a global education workshop series and meet with policymakers on Capitol Hill to discuss global education.

On June 19th, youth leaders participated in workshops with coalition partners on topics related to including the 263 million children who are out of school globally and the barriers they face, public policy advocacy, and the full inclusion of people with disabilities. Partners and organizations that participated included ChildFund, Child Labor Coalition, Girl Up, ONE Campaign, Professional Development and Research Center International Inc (PDRC International Inc.), Respect Ability, RESULTS and UNICEF-USA.

On June 20th, youth leaders met with their Members of Congress and recommended solutions to the urgent issues that youth worldwide face when accessing education.  Youth leaders met with policymakers in key congressional states, including Illinois and Missouri, and discussed the barriers that vulnerable children around the world face when accessing education. Youth Leaders also called on their Members of Congress to support and fund key global education initiatives, including the Protecting Girls' Access to Education in Vulnerable Settings Act, the Global Partnership for Education, Education Cannot Wait and bilateral funding for global education in Fiscal Year 2019 to support agencies, such as USAID.

Please contact your Members of Congress and take action to support access to quality education for children and youth worldwide.
